"Well..." He pauses, that was a very broad question and he rubs at his chin idly. "I like fish, and there are many ways to make it salty, or spicy." He offers, not really certain it's what she's looking but he is answering the best that he can.
"It's rather like asking someone to describe a favorite flower in a field the other person has never seen before."
"Gluttony can be just as powerful as Greed." He says quietly, but he can already tell she had the insatiable appetite of Kento of Hardrock. He can only shake his head with a sigh, and look back out over the water.
"If you make yourself hungry again, my rice ball will have been pointless."
"I have a friend who thinks with his stomach as well. His name is Kento of Hardrock, and I get the feeling you two might get along should you ever meet."
She grinned brightly, and was about to say more when an explosion from overhead rocked the sand under them, sending them flying.
"ZENITH!" NAjaran scolded dangerly as she rolled over onto her back, spitting out sand. "Not what I meant when I said I wanted a sandwi....." She stopped speaking as their attacker came into view, a hole in the sky closing behind a figure standing on the back of a huge clockwork owl.
"Cepter Najaran! Hand over your deck and give us the whereabouts of Zenith Dragon Eye, and we shall make your death swift and painless!"
"Black Cepters!" she gasped, using Goologan as a staff to get back to her feet. "Don't suppose you'd believe me if I said I don't actually know where Zenith is?" she asked, buying time. No way she was handing over her cards to a Black Cepter!
Anubis jumps as the explosion sends them flying, the staff in his hand emitting a bright light that briefly surrounds him as he lands on his feet. He glances over to see Najaran rolling upright in the sand and he quickly moves over toward her. As someone calls her out, he holds his staff out in front of him with both hands, a severe look on his expression.
"You will not harm her." He snarls as he glares defiantly back at the unwelcome arrival. He doesn't doubt she can protect herself, but he's not standing by idly with a threat before them.
"You another Cepter? Well I'll take you both on! And then I'll take both your books! PHOENIX!" He threw a card into the air, it exploded into bright light that resolved itself into a huge bird of flame.
"Najaran!" Gooligan called.
"I know! I know!" She grabbed two cards and flung them out. "Shield! Knight!"
In front of Anuibis a small buckler floated. Between them and the attacker in the sky a large armored humanoid, about twice their height or more, appeared.
"Get as much behind the shield as you can!" she called to Anubis, readying two more cards as she dashed for the Kight's foot.
"I have my own shield." He growls, his staff glowing again as an orb of light extends around him. It doubles the protection provided by the buckler.
"You will have no prize this day." He picks up his staff and points the top ball with its wings at the man on the clockwork owl. He then turns and points it at the Phoenix, commanding the ancient powers of the staff to fire a Lance of light straight at the fiery figure.
The knight picked up the Buckler as Naja scrambled up to sit on its shoulder. The bolt hit the bird who screamed like it was in agony, then turned into a card again, flying back into the man's hand. He threw it once more and once more the bird was there.
"You can't just kill a Pheonix," Gooligan called, "They return fully healed to his book!"
"Not willing to bet he has less power than I do," Najaran muttered, flinging two cards at the exact same time her Knight lanced its sword at the owl. The owl dodged the sword, but failed to notice the card, which turned into a small creature that skittered over the owl's carapace. The Cepter on the Owl's back tried to turn and see what it was, but the creature was moving too quickly, and for all it tried, the Owl couldn't shake it off. The man... was fighting to keep his balance.
Fair enough. He'd never dealt with a real Phoenix, so he turns his staff toward the clockwork owl. With it wobbling about, trying to figure out what she'd set loose, he takes aim for the wings, intent on bringing the fight to the ground.
The owl takes some damage from the hit, but was wobbling too much for a direct score. But the damage bought the creature the opening it needed, it reached long fingers into the wound and pulled on the metal it found there. The owl wobbled once more then plummeted.
The creature abandoned owl, landing on Knight's head.
"Good job, Gremlin!" Najaran called as the other Cepter fought to keep from crashing.
Anubis is satisfied to have helped in some way as he runs forward to close some of the distance between him and the strange things called into existence by the cards.
As he runs forward he tosses his staff toward the Phoenix, but rather than attack it, he intends to extend the power of the Ancients in a restraining bubble around it. If he couldn't kill it, he'd try to ensnare it. He has no idea if it'll work, but he has to try.
Awsome. Expand the THIS to the whole combat now, lol.
The phoenix fought against the sphere holding it, but for the moment it was trapped. But the Cepter had scrambled free of the fallen machine and was throwing another card. Najaran through one as well. Both exploded into light. One into a blue skinned creature even taller than Knight, the other into a huge stone wall that seemed almost to have a face.
"That stone wall isn't going to hold a blue ogre long... I'm open to suggestions!" Najaran called back.
Anubis looks over at Najaran, and then to where the Phoenix was being held. If only he still wore his armor, he could attempt to restrain not just the Phoenix, but even the Black Celtar themselves with his chains.
As he wonders, the field around the Phoenix disappears, but instead of the staff, a helmet floats down to him. He looks at it a moment, glancing back to Najaran, and then quickly puts it on. Armor appears on him and in hand he holds a sickle with a connecting chain and ball.
"Drop the wall!" He yells, charging toward her location as he swings the chain ball over his head. He needs more direct access to the Black Ceptar if this idea is to work.
"I hope you know what you're doing!" she called to him as she recalled the wall of stone. The Ogre grinned and brought its fists slamming down towards Knight who quickly raised the shield to intercept the blow.
While the Ogre goes for the Knight, Anubis goes straight for the Black Cepter himself.
"Quake. With. FEAR!" He shouts as he slams the ball end of the chain into the ground. All around the Black Ceptar, red flashes of light would appear, replaced with chains meant to tangle the caster's hands and body, the intent to completely immobilize them. Anubis is banking on the element of surprise to keep the Ceptar from pulling out a card to protect himself with.
The Cepter was surprised alright, and wound up wrapped, but as Najaran had shown... they can call cards to their hand. A card flew into his grasp. "SHATTER!" the spell card vanished into bright light... breaking the chains that held him. He spin to face Anubis.
"I don't know what sort of cards you have, but I assure you, I will enjoy acquiring them. But first I have to deal with the girl, so back off and wait your turn to die!"
Najaran was busy commanding Knight, and had to hope that Anubis could do well himself.
"I have none for you to take." He leaps into the air again, this time charging straight for the Black Ceptar as he repeats his attack.
"Quake with FEAR!" He is testing this time to see if that Shatter card can be recalled again so quickly. Worst case, Anubis can keep this up for a while and wear down the Black Ceptar with repeated attacks while Najaran deals with the creatures already summoned.
Everything they are using is an actual card from the games and/or manga.
And the problem with using the same attack twice when you do the shonen thing of screaming the name, is that the foe had that second of warning. So when the chains come up again, there is a flash of light... the chains wrapped around a brightly dressed dummy.
